Martin Kunert received the Dipl.Ing. of electrical engineering degree (M.S.E.E.) from the technical university Munich, Germany in 1986 and the Dr. Ing. degree in digital signal processing (Ph.D. E.E.) from the Institute Poytechnique de Toulouse (INPT), France in 1996. Since 2008 he is working at the Robert Bosch group in Leonberg, Germany in the advanced development department for driver assistance and automated driving in the domain of radar-based environmental perception.
From 1987 to 1990 he worked as a researcher at the central research center of the Siemens AG in Munich on the topic of ultrasonic mass-airflow sensors for gas meters and engine intake air control.
From 1990 to 1995 he was in the advanced development department of Siemens Automotive AG in Toulouse, France with focus on basic vehicular radar prototypes at 24 GHz and 77 GHz.
In the 1995 to 2007 timeframe he was employed at Siemens VDO in Regensburg, Germany as a project leader for generic radar development and as a public funded project coordinator. International frequency allocation and technology scouting for advanced driver assistance systems was also in his field of work.
In 2008 he witnessed the company merger from Siemens VDO to Continental AG in the same location and area of work before he changed to Robert Bosch GmbH in Leonberg, Germany as a senior expert in high-resolution radar technology and public funded projects.
Dr. Kunert received the award “Doctor Europeus” from the INPT Toulouse, France due to the international scope and framework of his PhD thesis and has an European Microwave Association membership since 2015. His dissemination activities and publications are mainly centered around radar perception and highly automated driving topics.
