Less Details

Autonomous driving systems rely heavily on AI-powered perception technologies like cameras, LiDAR, and radar to interpret the environment. However, these systems alone cannot fully assess road conditions that impact vehicle control—especially during critical maneuvers such as braking. Tire intelligence, an often-overlooked but essential data source, provides real-time insights into road surface conditions, tire grip, and available traction. By integrating tire intelligence with traditional perception systems, autonomous vehicles and ADAS systems can make more informed decisions, improving safety and performance in adverse conditions like wet or icy roads. This presentation explores how tire and road intelligence enhance ADAS system and autonomous vehicle decision-making, particularly in braking and steering scenarios, and why AI alone is insufficient without these crucial data points.

In this session, you will learn more about:

  • How tire intelligence helps to achieve better results when actioning on perception and path planning of autonomous vehicles.
  • How real-time data on grip, traction, tire wear and surface conditions optimize braking and maneuverability in vehicles
  • The role of tire intelligence in improving accident prevention, enhancing decision-making of ADAS systems and autonomous vehicles, and ensuring safer mobility

The Pop in Your Job – What drives you? Why do you love your job?
My job is truly fascinating as it involves the innovation and development of cutting-edge technology for a product that many wouldn't typically associate with software - the software-defined tire. This technology is crucial for making software-defined vehicles „roll“ and enables higher level of safety and performance for vehicles. Additionally, my role encompasses the business development for this technology within the ADAS and automated driving ecosystem, while my team also enhances this technology for fleets to provide a cost-optimized fleet management solution and better customer experience in managing and handling tires. It also offers the opportunity to engage with partners and start-ups or even invest in them.
